A mere day after becoming available, the first batch of Nexus Q streaming media players has sold out on Google Play. They’re now listed as shipping “soon” on the Play Store, with an estimated wait of 2 to 3 weeks. The streaming device only works with Android phones and tablets, but apparently this didn’t stop people from ordering in excess of Google’s expectations. It’s still, of course, easier to find than Google’s somewhat more popular tablet, whose 16GB version is currently out of stock on the site. We don’t know how many of either the Nexus Q or 7 have been shipped, but it’s likely this initial batch of media players was fairly small, especially since it’s the first product Google’s commissioned from US-based manufacturers. Still, the Q sold out unusually quickly for such a niche device.
